Scuba Haven
CLASS Descriptions

Open Water Scuba Diver

Scuba Diver provides the fundamental knowledge and skills to scuba dive. Upon successful completion of this course a certification card will be issued. This card will be necessary to purchase compressed air, rent equipment, or engage in diving activities provided the conditions are similar to those of your training.

Certification classes are completed on three nights a week for three weeks including classroom and pool sessions. Two dives are completed in a spring for easy orientation and the learning of snorkeling skills. Two final dives are completed in the gulf for boat diving experience and final diving skills. We also offer Weekend courses which are completed on Saturdays and Sundays that last about 3 weekends. We are able to adjust some scheduling to fit your needs if possible.

Scuba Haven provides: tanks, regulators (with octopus and gauges), buoyancy control device (BCD), wet suit (if necessary), compass, air, open water manual, dive tables, and certification. Student provides their own personal gear (mask, snorkel, fins, boots, weight and weight belt). Call now to reserve your spot in available classes!

Advanced Open Water (may be taken with Nitrox at the same time)

This is a continuing education course for divers who desire additional training. This course includes a short review session of material and skills, if necessary. Also included are six dives, three core dives and three elective dives. The core dives are: deep diving (within recreational limits), night dive, and navigation dive. Elective dives can be chosen from the following: search and recovery, boat diving, light salvage, hunting and collecting, exploration and underwater mapping, non-penetration wreck diving, observation and data collection, diving in surf or currents, shore diving, or underwater photography or video. Call to schedule a start date for this class.

Nitrox (May be taken at the same time as Advanced class)

This course is to provide the diver with the information necessary to utilize EAN (enriched air nitrox) between 22-40% as a breathing medium. This class can be taken whenever you like with a one on one approach.

3) Automated External Defibrillator (AEDs)- Teaches the warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest and how to use AEDs to provide assistance.

4) CPR- Learn how to recognize a life-threatening emergency, when and how to properly activate the emergency medical services (EMS) systems and how to provide basic life support.
